KEVON HARRIS

Early Life And High School

Kevon grew up in Ellenwood, Georgia. He attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School (Lithonia) and later played at DME Academy in Florida to get additional prep exposure. From early on he combined strength and athleticism with an aggressive slashing game that made him a multi-tool wing at the high-school level.

College Career — Stephen F. Austin

Kevon enrolled at Stephen F. Austin (SFA) and became one of the program’s most productive scorers. Over four seasons he developed from an athletic role player into the team’s primary scorer and leader — finishing his SFA career with strong scoring averages and finishing as the school’s Division-I era scoring leader. He earned Southland Conference honors (including Player of the Year recognition) and put up back-to-back 17+ point seasons in his junior and senior years, showing improved efficiency and a reliable jumper to complement his inside game.

Going Pro

  • Undrafted in 2020. Like many mid-major standouts, Harris wasn’t selected in the 2020 draft, so he began his professional career by chasing opportunities in the G-League and NBA Summer League.
  • G-League rise. Over subsequent seasons he became a high-impact G-League wing — putting up near 20-point scoring averages, adding rebounds and playmaking, and significantly improving his 3-point accuracy. His G-League production, leadership in All-Star weekend events, and consistency made him a frequent target for Exhibit-10, two-way, and short-term NBA deals.
  • NBA stints & callups. Harris has had NBA minutes across multiple teams’ organizations (including Orlando’s system and later short NBA contracts), and he signed a 10-day NBA contract with Atlanta in early March 2025 after a strong G-League season.

Joining The Houston Rockets

In July 2025 Harris signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets, giving him a clear two-way role between Houston and their G-League affiliate and an opportunity to carve out a rotation spot through Summer League and training camp. The signing reflects the Rockets’ interest in athletic, two-way wings who can defend, space the floor, and provide energy minutes.

Playing Style And Strengths

  • Physical finishing: Strong body at 216 lbs, can absorb contact and finish through traffic.
  • 3-point development: Evolved into a respectable catch-and-shoot threat at SFA and in the G-League.
  • Defensive effort: Plays with active hands and uses his frame to bother ball-handlers; projects as a switchable perimeter defender on many possessions.
  • Intangibles: Coaches and reports praise his competitiveness, work ethic, and ability to take on a leadership/wing scorer role at the G-League level.

Career Highlights And Achievements

  • Stephen F. Austin’s Division-I era scoring leader and Southland Conference Player of the Year.
  • G-League Up Next Game MVP (NBA All-Star Weekend).
  • Multiple NBA callups and short-term contracts culminating in a two-way deal with the Houston Rockets (July 2025).

Stats

  • College: Finished SFA career with strong scoring averages (career approx. mid-teens PPG) and excellent shooting splits for a mid-major wing.
  • G-League (recent season): 19–20 PPG, 5–7 RPG, 3-ish APG with solid 3-point percentages during his breakout G-League season.
  • NBA: Limited NBA minutes across prior seasons; early NBA averages are modest but show potential in short stints.

Off The Court

Kevon maintains ties to his Georgia roots and is active on social media, sharing training, family moments, and on-court highlights. At SFA he majored in sports-related studies (listed as sports business while at SFA). He’s frequently described in coverage as a blue-collar worker on the court — the sort of player who elevates rosters with effort and versatility.

With a proven G-League track record, Harris’s immediate path is clear: maximize two-way minutes, impress in Summer League and training camp, and translate his scoring and defensive hustle to consistent NBA rotation value. For a rebuilding or young-core team looking for energetic wing depth, he’s a low-risk, potentially high-reward addition.
